February topic: exposure triangle 2.0

Let’s think again about aperture. Here are some ideas:

  • Can you get lights in your background to be indistinguishable circles of beautiful light?
  • Can you get those circles to show up as a different shape?
  • Remember that your depth of field not only is dependent on your aperture, but also on your distance from your subject. AKA you can change your depth of field by standing closer or farther away from your subject. Kind of cool… good to know… better to try…
  • If you want a true challenge, try a sun flare this week. Remember, the smaller the aperture (higher the number), the more “pointy” and less “blobby” your sun streaks will be.
